REMEMBRANCE DAY POPPY
MATERIALS:
- Red & Black yarn (I used Yarn & Colours 031, Scheepjes Catona 110)
- Hook to accommodate yarn choice
- Yarn sewing needle
ABBRIEVIATIONS: US terms
| MR - Magic Ring | sc - single crochet | htr - half treble |
| hdtr - half double treble | inc - sc 2 in same st | ch - chain |
| sl st - slip stitch | sp - space | st - stitch |
| (....) - repeat between the brackets | [4] - stitch count | sk - skip |
SPECIAL STITCHES:
htr - yarn over hook twice, insert hook into st, pull up a loop (4 loops on hook), yarn over, pull through 2 loops, yarn over, pull through 3 loops, stitch completed.
hdtr - yarn over hook thrice (3 times), insert hook into st, pull up a loop (5 loops on hook), yarn over, pull through 2 loops, yarn over, pull through 2 loops, yarn over, pull through 3 loops, stitch completed.
PATTERN:
R1/ Start with BLACK, MR, sc 4 into ring, sl st into 1st sc [4]
R2/ (inc) x4 [8] sl st into 1st sc and tie off
R3/ Join RED in same st as tie off, sc in same st, ch3, sk1, (sc next st, ch3, sk1) x3, sl st into 1st sc [4 ch loops, 4 sc]
R4/ (sl st into next ch3 loop, ch4, hdtr13, ch4, sl st in same loop) x4 [60 sts]
R5/ ch1, sc into skipped st from round 3, ch3 sk1, (sc next st, ch3, sk1) x3, sl st into 1st sc [4 ch loops, 4 sc]
R6/ (sl st into next ch3 loop, ch3, htr10, ch3, sl st in same loop) x4 [48 sts] sl st into next st and tie off
